Our Engineers

Nick Barnes has been a working bass player and lead singer for over thirty years and a recording and live sound engineer since 1995. During his early playing career with Flight 56 (see links) he recorded in some of England’s top studios of the day, like De Lane Lea in Wembley and Eden Studios Chiswick. In 1995 he set up his own recording studio which has gradually evolved into a mostly live location recording service as he believes that most musicians are more comfortable in a live situation and therefore relax and play better under these conditions.

Since 1995 he has engineered and produced many commercial releases, in 2006 he recorded an entire Ravens UK gig and the band have just added several of those tracks to their new album “Born Rockers” with no further mixing.

Over the years he has recorded everything from 50s Rock & Roll to Opera and choirs with English and Irish Folk music, 14 piece soul bands and karaoke singers in between.

John Blackwell, despite his youth has also been a working bass player for 14 years and joined Nick around 5 years ago in his recording business. In his time he has played in recording studios in London and Sheffield with band styles from Rock & Roll to Indie Rock. He is currently working with family band ‘This Little Girl’ around the UK 50s Rock n Roll circuit as both bass player and live sound engineer. John runs the second recording system and when needed, John and Nick combine both rigs for 48 track recordings.
